There are many types of detox programs. The length can be anywhere from a day to months, depending on the patient’s goals and health status. Some programs require fasting and others don’t. Some include protein shakes and others do not. Generally if you have never done a detox you should start off slowly and under professional supervision.

Weight loss– this is probably the number one reason most people will be motivated to do a detox or body cleanse program. It is a great way to lose weight and gain momentum.

Improved sleep– detoxing gives your body a rest. The liver and kidneys are your main detoxifying organs and when they are able to rest they can become more efficient with less stress on the rest of your bodily functions.

Increased energy– since your body is able to function more efficiently, you will have more energy and vitality!

Improved cognitive function– some toxins are able to cross the blood/brain barrier. These toxins can interfere with your brain and nervous system. Most detox programs can help remove some toxins from the brain and nervous system and therefore improve cognition.

Improved digestion– a good detox program will allow your digestive system to rest and rebuild. Most people notice a huge difference in their digestion. People often report decreased bloating and reflux and better elimination.
