Why would someone want to do a detox? There are many reasons. However, weight loss and health problems are the main reasons. A good detoxification program allows your body and mind to recover from the toxins accumulated from everyday living. Our food, air, and water are tainted with chemicals and pollutants.
Detoxification programs should be tailored to the patient’s individual needs. For instance, a fifty year old, 250lb. male with diabetes, cancer, or auto-immune disease on medication vs. a 20 year old, 120 lb., female without any health conditions and not on medication.
–Hydration- water is necessary for ensuring a successful cleanse. Drinking filtered or spring water with a high pH is best. Drink half your body weight in ounces.
–Rest- most people require 7-8 hours of sleep. Sleep decreases stress, which decrease cravings for carbs.
–Exercise- helps reduce toxins, accelerates weight loss, increases energy, and improves mood.
